USFL schedule Week 3: What football games are on today? TV channels, times, scores

The USFL is full go now, with teams already separating themselves from the remainder of the field heading into Week 3.

Once again, the league will play a full schedule with doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday. The first of those will take place between the Bandits and Gamblers, while the Stallions and Breakers look to remain the last undefeated team in the primetime game on Saturday.

Sunday’s games feature slightly less captivating matchups, as the Maulers and Panthers look to avoid becoming the last winless team in league play. The Generals and Stars will also look to build off Week 2 wins and avoid falling into a 1-2 hole this season.

Here’s how to watch Week 3’s games on Saturday:

Bandits vs. gamblers

Stallions vs. breakers

The Bandits and Gamblers both head into their Week 3 game coming off demoralizing losses, albeit in differing fashions. The Gamblers trailed the Stallions 33-28 for nearly the entirety of the fourth quarter, but committed a costly turnover late — a third interception by Clayton Thorson on the day — to ultimately fall to Birmingham. The Bandits, meanwhile, were soundly beaten by the Breakers, 34-3.

It’s no surprise that the Stallions-Breakers game is getting the primetime treatment this week as the last game of the year between undefeated teams. Birmingham is coming off a late victory over the Breakers, one in which J’Mar Smith completed 20 of 30 passes for 229 yards and two scores to one interception. The Breakers, meanwhile, got excellent play from Kyle Sloter, who completed 25 of 39 passes for 266 yards and two scores. Both teams got good production from their run games as well.

Here’s how to watch every USFL game that will be played on Sunday.

Maulers vs. panthers

Generals vs. stars

The Maulers and Panthers are looking to avoid becoming the last winless team in the USFL this week when they face off at Protective Arena in Birmingham. Michigan is coming off a hard-fought loss in which it scored only one touchdown in a 10-6 loss to the Generals. The defense did its job, limiting New Jersey to just 258 yards and two scores, but poor showings by quarterback Shea Patterson and the run game wasted the defensive effort. The Maulers’ comeback attempt in a 30-23 loss to the Stars was cut short by a late interception by quarterback Joshua Love.

In the last game of the week, the Generals — coming off a stalwart defensive performance in which they allowed only 183 yards against the Panthers — will look to shore up its offense and improve to 2-1 over the Stars. Otherwise, Philadelphia, coming off a 30-point game that was fueled by a three-touchdown performance by Bryan Scott, could run them out of the stadium otherwise.
